NoticeOld Adirondack ClosureEffective 5/31/2011 Old Adirondack has ceased operations. This means that other than wrapping up a few open orders and other obligations the company has stopped manufacturing and offering products for sale. It is extremely unfortunate for the employees, customers and all involved that the company could not continue operations. The decision was voted upon at a shareholder meeting conducted on 5/27/2011. The primary causes of the closure were both long term challenges that the company had not yet been able to solve and also the effects of the current long sustained recession. Starting as early as August 2007 a large downturn in orders was observed in what is normally a strong month. That large downturn continued through the rest of 2007 and 2008 and clearly was related to the housing downturn and national financial debacle. Although prospects brightened in 2009 and again in 2010 business levels remained far below 2005 and 2006 levels. Given today’s limited access to working capital and the effects of the recession the company no longer had enough working capital to continue and we had no choice but to close. |
